Cats Slump to 7th at Stanford Intercollegiate

TUCSON, Ariz. - After spending two days in contention, #21-ranked Arizona struggled in its final round at the Stanford/Pepsi Invitational and finished in 7th place at 14-over 866, Sunday afternoon at the Stanford Golf Course.
Entering the final day in 4th place, the Wildcats were 11-over par on Sunday with a team total of 295, 13 shots more than its opening round total that had the team at 2-under on Friday at close of play. UCLA went wire-to-wire to win the event at 8-under 844 while Lizette Salas of USC shot 68 on Sunday for a two-shot individual victory at 7-under 206.
Freshman Margarita Ramos finished off a consistent three days of play by shooting even par for the second-straight day to lead the Wildcats. She finished the event tied for 14th place at 215 (+2), her lowest three-round total as a collegian.
Sophomore Alejandra Llaneza was +6 on Sunday, tarnishing what had been an outstanding weekend of play, to drop her back into a tie for 29th position at +5. Brittany Benvenuto, who entered the final day at 1-under, finished the tournament with a round of 78 and was one shot behind her teammate in a tie for 32nd overall at 7-over par.
Senior Amanda Wilson managed to trim 2 shots off her scores from the previous two days and finish the event with her best round of the tournament at 2-over 72. She shared 38th position at +7 while freshman Isabelle Boineau matched Llaneza with a round of 76 on Sunday to finish at +11. Nikki Koller wrapped up the weekend of individual play with a second-straight round of 79 to finish at 239.
The Wildcats play their final event of the Fall November 2-4 in Reunion, Florida at the Collegiate Match Play Championships at the Ginn Reunion Resort.
