Game Notebook: Goodwin Records First TD Of Career

Oct. 25, 2008

Seattle, Wash. -- The first touchdown catch of D'Andre Goodwin's collegiate career put the Huskies on the board for the first time on Saturday. The junior from Pacioma, Calif. kept the Huskies' home shutout streak alive. With Goodwin's reception, the Huskies haven't been held scoreless at Husky Stadium since Nov. 6, 1976 versus Oregon.

'It definitely was (a motivation) for us. If you're going to lose, you at least have to lose putting points up on the board,' Goodwin said. 'We weren't going to stop fighting until we went down the field and scored.'

Williams picks off first pass of career
Sophomore safety Nate Williams made the first interception of his career on Saturday, putting an end to an Irish drive by picking off a Jimmy Clausen pass in the second quarter and coming down at the 1-yard line. It was the second time Williams came down with a Notre Dame pass that day, unfortunately his first was called back by a pass interference call in the first quarter.

'Unfortunately the first one got called back,' Williams said. 'I didn't see the (pass interference), but those things happen.' 'When you're in the heat of the moment and you see the ball in the air, your instinct is to get that ball no matter what.'

Huskies apply pressure to Irish
With a sack each by Donald Butler and Everrette Thompson, the Huskies nearly matched their sack total for the season on Saturday against the Irish. The Huskies applied pressure throughout the night on Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen, resulting in a number of wild throws. Coming into Saturday's game, Daniel Te'o-Nesheim had all three of the UW's sacks this season.
