Cougars Picked Ninth in Coaches' Poll

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State University women's basketball team was picked to finish ninth in the Pacific-10 Conference in 2008-09, according to a preseason poll voted on by the league's head coaches.
The Cougars received 20 points, ahead of 10th-place Arizona, who received 16 points. Stanford ranked first in the poll, receiving six first-place votes and 78 total points. California was the only other team to receive first-place votes (four), finishing second in the poll with 76 points.
Following are the complete results of the preseason coaches' poll; coaches are not allowed to vote for their own teams (points 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1, first-place votes are in parentheses).

The Cougars host their first exhibition of the 2008-09 season Sunday (Nov. 2) against Showtime Basketball. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Friel Court.
The WSU women open the 2008-09 regular season on the road against Texas Tech Nov. 16.
