WSU Men Tied for Third at Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate

Las Cruces, New Mexico- Washington State University's men's golf team finished in a tie for third place after playing two rounds today at the par-71, 7,078-yard New Mexico State University Golf Course. The Cougars posted a team score of 584 (+16).

'It's another chance for us to play in the lead group in the final round and see how we handle it...I expect a good day tomorrow! Go Cougs!' said WSU Head Coach Walt Williams.

Leading the Cougar pack is Junior Austin Hurt. Hurt opened with a first-round score of 73 (+2), and shot 69 (-2) in the second round. He finished with a total score of 142 (E), placing him in a tie for ninth place.

Sophomore Nick Ellis enters the final day in a tie for 13th place. Ellis posted a first-round score of 73(+2), and fired a second-round 70 (-1). Junior Kevin Tucker carded 146 (+4) and sits in a tie for 26th place.

Nick Grigsby posted a 153 (+11), and Xavier Dailly wrapped up the Cougar scorers with a 159 (+17).

'Hurt and Ellis played very well,' said Williams. 'And Tucker was solid, we needed a little more at the bottom of the lineup and I'm sure Xavier and Grigs will get it rolling tomorrow.'
