No. 7 Cal Swims Past Washington in Home Opener, 143-119

BERKELEY - The seventh-ranked California men's swimming team won eight of 14 events in a 143-119 dual-meet victory over Washington on a rainy Thursday afternoon at Spieker Aquatics Complex. The Golden Bears improved their record to 2-0 (1-0 Pac-10). The Huskies lost their first meet of the season and fell to 5-1 (0-1 Pac-10).

Olympians Nathan Adrian (1:38.42 in the 200-yard freestyle), Damir Dugonjic (55.01 in the 100-yard breaststroke) and Martin Liivamagi (1:50.46 in the 200-yard individual medley) all won individual events for the Bears. Adrian and senior Bennett Clark each won an individual race and took part in the Bears' winning 400-medley relay and 200-freestyle relay. Clark also won the 100 freestyle in a time of 45.18.

Cal sophomore Graeme Moore won the 50 free in a time of 20.34, edging second-place teammate Josh Daniels (20.89) and junior teammate Sean Mahoney claimed the 200 breaststroke in 2:02.56.
