Bobusic, Cossou and Ilcinkas Head to ITA National Indoors

BERKELEY - The California women's tennis team will be represented by three players at the upcoming ITA National Indoor Championships as seniors No. 22 Claire Ilcinkas and No. 65 Bojana Bobusic and sophomore No. 7 Marina Cossou head to Charlottesville, Va. Hosted by the University of Virginia Nov. 6-9, and played out on the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar's Head Sports Club, the four-day tournament features one field of 32 singles players and one field of 16 doubles teams.
Cossou advanced to the semifinal round at the All-American Championships to earn an automatic bid to the indoor championships. She holds a 10-3 record and also advanced to the semifinal at the Wilson/ITA Northwest Regional Championships where she fell in three sets to No. 12 Melanie Gloria of Fresno State.
Bobusic earned her bid to the indoor championships when she defeated No. 4 Hilary Barte of Stanford at the regional championships to advance to the final round where she fell in a 6-3, 6-2 bout to Gloria. Ilcinkas is 5-4 on the year but advanced to the round of 16 at the All-American Championships and the quarterfinals at the regional championships where she also fell to Barte in three sets. As a 2007-08 All-American, Ilcinkas earned one of the at-large bids to the indoor championships.
The Cal men's tennis team is also represented at the indoor championships by the doubles team of senior Geoff Chizever and sophomore Pedro Zerbini.
