M Golf in 10th in CordeValle Collegiate

TUCSON, Ariz.- The Arizona Men's Golf team put together a round of 386 that placed it in 10th place out of the 12 competing in the CordeValle Collegiate after day one.
Arizona posted a round of 26 over par, 29 strokes behind tournament-leader USC. The Trojans lead second place Charlotte by 10 strokes after recording a fist-round of 357 (-3).
The slow start is the second in their last two tournaments. The Cats ended the first round of the UCF-Isleworth Invitational in last place out of 18 teams, but climbed back to finish in 14th Oct. 26-28.
Tarquin MacManus led the Cats in the first round, shooting a 75 that placed him in a tie for 30th. MacManus has been the Wildcats' top finisher in the last two events. Six strokes better than MacManus are leaders Sihwan Kim of Stanford and Matthew Giles of USC.
Brad Nicholson is in a tie for 37th, one stroke behind MacManus. Following suit, one stoke behind Nicholson are Jonathan Khan and Philip Bagdade, who each shot a first round 77. Roberto Galleti is +9 after day one, and tied for 69th. Tyler Neal's round of 83 did not count toward Arizona's cumulative total of 386.
The tournament, played at CordeValle Country Club in San Martin, Calif., a par 72, 7,169 yard course, requires each team to play six golfers with the top five scores recorded each day.
