Daugherty Honored by Alumni Association

Nov. 6, 2008

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University women's basketball Head Coach June Daugherty was honored with the distinguished status of Adopted Cougar by the WSU Alumni Association, Oct. 25, at the fourth annual Night with Cougar Basketball.

The WSUAA Adopted Cougar Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional Cougar spirit, loyalty, and affection for WSU. Adopted Cougars receive a one-year membership in the WSUAA, a special Adopted Cougar recognition certificate signed by the WSUAA president, a lapel pin, and all the great benefits and services enjoyed by Alumni Association members.

'I am very proud to be honored in this way,' Daugherty said. 'The WSU and Pullman communities have made my family and I feel so welcome. We appreciate and love the university, community, and people.'

At Washington State University since 2007, Daugherty is already generating increased Cougar spirit: the Cougars averaged 1,666 fans per game in 2007-08, more than tripling the average from the previous season.
