No. 5 Washington Records Sweep Over No. 10 USC

SEATTLE - Becky Perry had a team-high 18 kills and hit .517 (18-3-29) as the No. 5 Washington Huskies swept the No. 10 USC Women of Troy, 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-19), in a Pac-10 Conference match. The Huskies hit .393 in the match to earn the sweep over the Trojans.
Jenna Hagglund recorded 47 assists and 10 digs for Washington (18-4, 9-3) while Airial Salvo had a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs.
UW broke away from a 4-4 tie in the first set with a 6-3 run after a USC service error, followed by an attack error. The Huskies hit .441 in the set and pushed their lead at one point to nine points to dominate the Trojans in the opening set.
USC changed its look in set two as freshman setter Kendall Bateman entered the match and registered 14 assists. The Women of Troy held set point, but the Huskies took advantage of two Gysin attack errors and scored four straight points to win the set and take command in the match with a 2-0 lead.
In the third set, the Trojans got as close as a single point late, but a kill from Salvo and back-to-back kills by Jessica Swarbrick closed out the sweep for the host Huskies.
USC travels to Washington State for a 1 p.m. match on Sunday (Nov. 9).
