GymDawgs Journal: Anna Epps
Nov. 10, 2008
Hey Dawg fans!
I can hardly believe two months have flown by since the start of mandatory practice. It's already holiday season; my favorite time of year! In the gym the intensity and pressure are increasing and we are all rising up to the challenges that face us. Assignments are getting harder and we are all accomplishing the tasks given to us. We are all so motivated to achieve great things this season and it is evident in our practices.
Congrats to Karen for being this week's Top Dawg. Karen is such an inspiration for us all; she comes into the gym every day willing to work hard with a positive attitude. Her personality shines in the gym and we can always count on her to make us smile.
School has been going really well. We have all been deciding what classes we will take for our winter quarter and are excited for the start of something new. The start of winter quarter also indicates the beginning of season. We are all so excited to start competing and have been working hard every day in the gym so we will be prepared. We still have two months to get ready but we all know that it will fly by and the start of season will be here before we know it.
We had a quick intra-squad (with no judges) this last Friday. We had an occasional mistake here and there but overall we looked awesome! To create a little more pressure on beam we did routines with the gym completely silent and everyone performed great under the added pressure. We have improved so much since the start of mandatory. I have no doubt that by the time season rolls around we will be more than ready to go out and hit strong.
With two months already gone, I definitely feel like I am getting to know my new teammates even better. The team chemistry is so great this year and we all get along so well. With three seniors to lead us, five sophomores to guide us, and five freshmen willing to learn, we have created the ideal team. With such supportive teammates all around us, I know we can make it through anything and accomplish our goals.
Can't wait to see you all in a few weeks for our intra-squad!!
