Walnut Creek, Calif. -
USC junior goalkeeper Kristin Olsen was named Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Nov. 4-10, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Olsen, a native of Orange, Calif., secured two shutouts on the weekend for the Trojans, with 1-0 victories over Oregon and Oregon State on the road. In USC's win over Oregon, Olsen recorded five saves, four of which came in the second half, to preserve the victory for the Trojans. Against the Beavers, Olsen again accumulated five saves, holding off any Oregon State scoring attempts.
Now with seven shutouts on the season, the junior has moved into second place on USC's all-time career shutout list with 19.
Closing out the Pac-10 season with a sweep of the Oregon schools, the Trojans secured their fourth-consecutive NCAA Tournament bid. Earning a No. 4 seed in the UCLA region, USC will look to earn back-to-back national championships after winning both the school's first soccer title and the first title for a Pac-10 team.
Also Nominated: Christen Press, So., F, Stanford; Catherine Calvert, Sr., D, UCLA; Veronica Perez, Jr., F, Washington; Elysse Van Leer, Jr., F, Washington State.
