USC Too Much For Swimming and Diving

Both the men and women's swimming and diving teams suffered losses against the USC Trojans, this Saturday in Los Angeles. The women's team fell 132-67 while the men fell 149-92.
Arguably the women's team most versatile swimmer, Penelope Yamauchi placed second in the 1000 free behind Olympic gold medalist Rebecca Soni. The freshman clocked in a time of 10:26.54. Yamauchi's fellow freshman Sasha Stephens won the 100 back in 56.99. Jordyn Green clocked in a time of 1:04.41 to place second in the 100 breast.
Ashton Aubry finished second in the 200 fly. The junior clocked in a time of 2:01.43 to finish behind USC's Katinka Hosszu. The Sun Devils finished first through third in the 50 free. Senior Jen Beckberger won the event in 23.87 with Katie Haron and Sam Caldwell finishing second and third. Beckberger also won the 100 free in 51.13. Stephens took second in the 200 back, finishing in 2:03.55 while Jordyn Green placed second in the 200 breast behind Soni, clocking in a time of 2:18.52. Aubry won the 100 fly in 54.66, just shy of the NCAA consideration time. The women ended the meet on a high note, by winning the 200 free relay in 1:34.48.
On the men's side, Vincius Waked won the 200 free. The senior hit the wall at 1:38.83. Reigning Pac-10 Diver of the Year Micky Benedetti won the 1-meter with a score of 354.45. Benedetti also won the 3-meter, tallying 410.32 points. Sean Boyle took first in the 100 fly, clocking in a time of 48.72. Senior Mohammed Madwa placed second in the 100 free, clocking in a time of 45.97.
The swimming team will next head to the Texas Invitational which takes place in Austin, Texas December 4-6. The diving teams will head to the Ohio State Invite that same weekend.
