Men's Hoops Signs Ruslan Pateev

Nov. 16, 2008

Herb Sendek has announced that 6-11, 235-pound center Ruslan Pateev has signed a letter of intent with Arizona State and will join the program next fall.

Pateev plays for Montverde Academy in Florida and is coached by Kevin Sutton, who is in his sixth year at the Academy and has sent numerous players to the Divsion I level. Plateev averaged 10 points, 10 boards and four blocks in his junior season.

'Ruslan brings great size and an outstanding skill set,' says ASU head coach Herb Sendek, in his third year at ASU and his 16th overall as a head coach. 'He is efficient around the basket and can knock down jumpers. He also will add toughness and a defensive presence to the floor. We are very excited to have him as part of our program.'

Three Monteverde student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent on November 12, as Rob Chubb (Auburn) and Nick Diatta (Towson) joined Plateev on an impressive list of 22 alumni that have already earned basketball scholarships.
