GymDawgs Journal: Hatsune Akaogi
Nov. 17, 2008
Hello there Dawg fans!
I can't believe the days have gone by so fast and we are already well into November. I've adjusted so well into this new college life and I am having a blast making new friends and bonding with the team. All of us freshmen are also roomed with freshmen volleyball players and it couldn't have been more perfect. We love going to their matches to support them. So on to some things that have been going on...
Well, last weekend my friends came up from California so I stayed at her aunt's house for a few nights. Even though dorm life isn't horrible, it was nice to be in a house and eat home cooked food for a change. Having no classes on Tuesday for Veteran's Day was a nice break for all of us who have recently had midterms and exams. We just picked classes for the next quarter so that was exciting. Every day I feel lucky to be a student-athlete at such a strong academic school with so much support and resources for us to use.
And next Monday is our intrasquad in the Bank of America Arena! We've been working hard in the gym, bringing new passes to the hard floor and putting in harder landing mats for vault. Congrats to Sam for getting the Top Dawg award this week. Coming back from an injury is always hard but seeing her dedication and how fast she has come back is really awesome.
So that's about it for now, but hope to see you all there Monday night for the intrasquad!
