Coughlin Win Top Honors at the USA Swimming Foundation Golden Goggle Awards

NEW YORK - Eleven-time Olympic medalist and former California Golden Bear swimmer Natalie Coughlin was in attendance to accept top honors at the USA Swimming Foundation's Golden Goggle Awards, as she took home the award for Female Athlete of the Year on Monday night. The Award ceremony was held at the New York Hilton and was hosted by Bob Costas. The function also celebrated the accomplishments of the Olympic Swim Team at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
Coughlin earned six medals at the Olympics - one gold, two silver, and three bronze, becoming the first woman in any sport, to win six medals in one Olympiad. In 2008, Coughlin broke the 100m back world record three times and set a total of 11 American records.
'This was a great year,' Coughlin said. 'This year was really special with so many records being broken and I'm really glad to have been a part of it.'
The Golden Goggle Awards will be broadcast online on Tuesday, Nov. 18, on AT&T Blue Room. The special webcast will include interviews from the red carpet, footage of the exclusive VIP party, backstage preparations.
