UCLA's Michael Stephens Named Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- UCLA junior midfielder Michael Stephens has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Nov. 11 - 17, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Stephens tied a UCLA single-game record with four assists in the Bruins' 6-1 win at San Diego State. The Naperville, Ill., native assisted on the Bruins' first four goals and helped the team record its highest goal output since scoring seven goals in 2002.
Stephens now leads UCLA and the Pac-10 in scoring with 23 points and is tied for the lead with nine assists. The Bruins finish the regular season with an eight-game unbeaten streak and has outscored their opponents by an 18-2 count during that streak.
UCLA earned the Pac-10's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins host Cal Poly, a team they defeated 2-1 on Nov. 8, in the first round on Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. The winner will play a second round game at No. 7 UC Irvine on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m.
Stephens becomes the first men's soccer player to earn three weekly honors in the the same season. UCLA has totaled 35 players of the week all-time.
