Troy Nolan Named Pac-10 Defensive Player Of The Week
Dec. 1, 2008
TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State University senior safety Troy Nolan was named the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced today.
Nolan was one of many standouts in Arizona State's record defensive performance in the Sun Devils' 34-9 win against UCLA. Nolan had eight tackles and intercepted a pass in the end zone and returned it 100 yards for a touchdown. It was Nolan's fourth interception and third touchdown of the season.
Arizona State set a Pac-10 record and tied the NCAA mark for most defensive scores in a game as the Sun Devil defense scored four touchdowns, returning three interceptions and one fumble for scores against the Bruins. In addition to the four turnovers for touchdowns, Arizona State limited UCLA to 306 yards of total offense and posted five quarterback sacks.
Nolan is the third Sun Devil to win a weekly conference award this season.
