WSU Swimmer Takes Home Bronze Medal at Swedish Nationals

STOCKHOLM, Sweden - Washington State junior swimmer Michaela Ahlin (Tyreso, Sweden) returned to her native country during the Thanksgiving break to compete at the Swedish Nationals Nov. 28-30. Ahlin's performance was highlighted by a third-place finish in the 200 meter butterfly (2:12.49) earning her the bronze medal.
Ahlin also competed in the 100 fly, 400 free, 800 free relay, and 50 fly advancing to the final in all three individual events. The 50 and 100 fly consisted of prelims, semifinals and a final while the 200 fly and 400 free consisted of only prelims and a final.
Ahlin placed fifth in the 400 free with a time of 4:17.69, sixth in the 100 fly (1:02.11) and seventh in the 50 fly (28.05). Ahlin's 800 free relay team missed the final finishing 13th in the prelims with a time of 8:44.63. Ahlin led off the relay with a 200 meter split of 2:02.22.
Ahlin will join back up with the Cougars in Austin, Texas, this week for the Texas Invite Dec. 4-6.
