Nine Golden Bears Earn Academic All-Pac-10 Accolades

BERKELEY - The Cal women's soccer team had nine players named to the Pac-10 Conference's All-Academic Team, commissioner Tom Hansen announced Tuesday. Redshirt sophomore forward Lisa Kevorkian led the Golden Bears with placement on the second team. Eight others earned honorable mentions.
In order to be eligible for selection to the list, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
This year, the Bears finished the season with a 10-9-1 overall record and went 3-5-1 in the competitive Pac-10, which saw six of its teams advance to the NCAA Tournament. Cal earned an at-large selection to the tournament, marking Cal's 16th playoff bid, the 10th in the last 11 years and the fifth consecutive. The Bears fell, 2-1, to No. 7 Florida in Gainesville, Fla., in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Sophomore forward Alex Morgan, who earned an honorable mention, led Cal with nine goals and Kevorkian was second with six scores. Junior goalkeeper and honorable mention All-Academic Gina Pellegrini spent the majority of time in goal for the Bears and owned a 1.39 goals-against average.
