Cal Remains in second place at the Georgia Fall Invite on Saturday

Athens, Ga. - The fifth-ranked Golden Bear women's swimming team completed the second day of the Georgia Fall Invitational on Saturday night in second place with a total of 522.5 points.
Junior Courtney Eronemo swam a personal-best and NCAA B time of 4:15.92 (third-place) in the final of the 400 IM. It was almost a full three seconds lower than her preliminary time of 4:18.74 earlier in the morning. Her previous personal-best was 4:16.45 set at the 2007 Pac-10 Championships.
Senior Natalie LaRochelle placed seventh in the 400 IM final as well, touching the wall with a season-best time of 4:20.85.
Sophomore Amanda Sims clocked a new personal-best 52.34 with her first place finish in the final of the 100-yard butterfly. Sims originally recorded a personal best 52.72 in the prelims earlier in the afternoon, before lowering it in the final. Sophomore Hannah Wilson was right behind Sims in second place with a time of 52.99 (a season-best). Both of their times were NCAA B cuts.
Junior Alexandra Ellis clocked a season-best 1:02.21 (an NCAA B time) for fifth place in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Thomas (55.36) and Lauren Rogers (55.77) placed 5-6 respectively in the 100-yard backstroke.
The Invite concludes on Sunday with 1,650 yard freestyle, 200 yard backstroke, 100 yard freestyle, 200 yard breaststroke, 200 yard butterfly and 400 yard freestyle relay. Live results can be found on CalBears.com by accessing the 'schedule/results' link on the women's swimming page.
