Conley Earns Preseason Third-Team All-America
Dec. 16, 2008
Washington outfielder Kyle Conley has been selected as a third-team preseason All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, which announced its teams today.
Conley, a junior from Richland, Wash., led the Huskies in virtually every offensive category last season, including average (.337), home runs (19) and runs batted in (57). He also either led the team or shared the lead in runs, hits, doubles, triples and stolen bases.
Conley was one of five Pac-10 players to make the first, second or third teams. ASU outfielder Jason Kipnis and utility man Mike Leake were named to the first team while USC shortstop Grant Green made the second team. Arizona closer Jason Stoffel joined Conley on the third team.
The Huskies, under 17th-year head coach Ken Knutson, open the 2009 season Feb. 20 with the first game of a four-game series at reigning NCAA champion Fresno State.
