Men's Hoops Knocks Off Nebraska

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Daniel Deane and Omari Johnson each recorded double-doubles and Calvin Haynes scored 14 points in his return as Oregon State captured a 64-63 win over Nebraska in action from Gill Coliseum on Saturday night. With the win, Oregon State improves to 2-5 on the season while Nebraska falls to 6-2 with the loss.
The game was back and forth throughout as the lead changed hands 20 times with 11 ties as Oregon State held the largest lead of the game with a six point edge at the 17 minute mark of the first half.
With Oregon State trailing 63-62, Deane was fouled during a scramble for a loose ball as he stepped to the line and nailed two free throws with 8.3 seconds remaining to give the Beavers a one-point lead. Nebraska had the final shot as Ade Dagunduro missed a contested 12-footer at the buzzer.
Johnson tied his career high with 19 points and 10 rebounds for Oregon State (2-5), which had two players record a double-double for the first time since an overtime loss to Iowa State last year.
Dagunduro led Nebraska (6-2) with 16 points.
Deane scored the final four points for Oregon State as his two foul shots put Oregon State ahead 62-61. Nebraska went back ahead on a pair of Dagunduro free throws with 10.9 seconds remaining. Nebraska's Cookie Miller missed a shot and the ball went out of bounds with 1.1 seconds left as the Huskers final attempt at the buzzer was long.
Oregon State will return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 15, when the Beavers host Seattle Pacific at 7:00 p.m.
