Walnut Creek, Calif. -
USC senior guard Brynn Cameron was named the U.S. Bank Pac-10 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 29-Jan. 4, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Cameron, a native of Newbury Park, Calif., averaged 16.5 points per game and two steals in USC’s sweep of the Oregon schools in the first weekend of Pac-10 play. Cameron, the Pac-10’s active career leader in three-point field goals made, shot over 50 percent from the three-point line and added seven more three pointers to her total.
Against Oregon, Cameron scored 13 points for the Trojans and grabbed four rebounds as USC went on to beat the Ducks, 66-56. In USC’s win over Oregon State (78-54), it was all Cameron in the first half, setting a new season-high by halftime, shooting 7-of-8 from the floor, including 4-of-5 from outside the arc for 18 points after the first 20 minutes of play. Cameron finished the game with a team-high 20 points and another season-high three steals.
USC opened up Pac-10 play 2-0 for the first time since the 2005-06 season. Up next, the Trojans face cross-town rival UCLA on Jan. 11.
