UCLA and CALIFORNIA each swept the opening weekend of play, extending winning streaks to eight and seven games respectively... Around the league... ARIZONA dropped its first two league games and looks to rebound at home against the Oregon schools. The last time Arizona lost its first three league games was during the 1983-84 season when it opened Pac-10 play with four losses en route to a 8-10 league record. On the recent Bay Area trip, junior F Jordan Hill picked up a pair of double-doubles, averaging 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds. He's second nationally with 10 double-doubles this year... ARIZONA STATE senior F Jeff Pendergraph posted a career-high 31 points and added 11 rebounds in the win over Stanford. Sophomore G James Harden is quickly approaching 1,000 career points. In just 48 career games, Harden has tallied 933 points (19.4 ppg)... CALIFORNIA is off to a 13-2 start. It's best start since opening the 2002-03 season at 14-2. Junior G Jerome Randle posted his first career double-double with 26 points/10 assists in the win over Arizona State. Randle is third in the league in turnover/assist ratio at 2.0, a solid improvement from his 1.2 ratio last season... OREGON junior G Tajuan Porter has hit his last 22 consecutive free throw attempts to push his free throw percentage to .925 for the season (second in Pac-10). However, he's still got a ways to go to match the school and Pac-10 record of 62 set by Luke Ridnour during the 2002-03 season. The last time Oregon started league play 0-2 was in 1993-94 as it finished Pac-10 play 6-12 that season... OREGON STATE snapped a 21-game Conference losing streak with a its 62-58 overtime win over USC. It also snapped a 23-game streak against Pac-10 opponents and a nine game overtime losing streak. The last time the Beavers beat a Pac-10 opponent was Feb. 22, 2007 against Washington in Corvallis. The last time the Beavers won an overtime game was Dec. 6, 2003 over Kansas State in three overtimes. Junior C Roeland Schaftenaar matched a career-high with 18 points, and added seven rebounds, 6 assists and three steals in the win. He hit the game tying three-pointer with 1.4 seconds remaining to force the overtime period. The Beavers will be looking for their first Conference road victory since Jan. 13, 2007 (67-59 at Arizona State)... STANFORD junior F Landry Fields posted the first double-double of his career with 19 points/12 rebounds in the 76-60 win over Arizona. The 16-point margin of victory by the Cardinal was its largest over the Wildcats since a 86-69 win on Feb. 7, 1983... UCLA's scoring defense of 58.2 in 2008-09 marks the fourth-straight year the Bruins have allowed fewer than 60 points per game (59.0 in 2008, 59.9 in 2007 and 58.7 in 2006). Junior G Michael Roll continues to have the hot hand from three-point range, hitting 19-of-27 (.704) from long distance over the last six games... USC junior F Taj Gibson is now USC's career blocked shots leader with 197, passing Sam Clancy (194 blocks, 1999-2002). He needs three more to become one of four Pac-10 players all-time with 200 or more blocked shots. His 44 blocked shots are more than four other Pac-10 teams each have this season. Junior G Dwight Lewis matched his career-high with 26 points as he hit 4-of-5 from three-point range in the win at Oregon. He leads the team in scoring at 16.1 ppg (sixth in the Pac-10)... WASHINGTON is riding an eight-game winning streak - it's longest since eight- and 11-game streaks during the 2005-06 season. While senior F Jon Brockman posted the 1,000th rebound of his career in the win over Morgan State, the next game saw him grab a season-low four rebounds in the win at Washington State. He's grabbed fewer than four rebounds in a game just six times during his Husky career (109 games). Freshman G Isaiah Thomas leads all Pac-10 freshmen in scoring (15.1 ppg/ninth in Pac-10). He's scored in double figures in 10 of the last 11 games. With the non-double digit game being a nine-point outing vs. Pacific... WASHINGTON STATE's loss to Washington was its first to the Huskies in eight games. The Cougars are second in the Pac-10 in free throw percentage (.741) and are shooting .842 from the line over the last three games. However, they've taken a total of 19 shots from the charity stripe the last three games. Freshman F DeAngelo Casto leads all Pac-10 freshmen with 17 blocked shots. That's fifth all-time among WSU freshmen. The WSU freshman record is 36 by Rob Corkrum (1991).
