Post game quotes: Cal vs Washington St., Jan. 8, 2009

Head Coach Joanne Boyle
'I thought it was a great game. I give a lot of credit to Washington State. June and Mike have done a great job getting that program in a different place in just a year. They came out and kept it close. They did a lot of things to create havoc. I thought we did a good job, in particular, in the last four minutes of the game, something we really needed to improve on. I thought we did a great job on the boards.'
'We figured out watching film and figuring out percentages that Washington State scores about 40 perecnt of their points off offensive rebounds. So we focused on keeping them off the boards. Keep them off the free throw line. Take care of the ball. And we did a good job of that.'
'Lauren (Grief) is just doing all the little things right. I think it was three possessions in a row against Arizona State that she went and gritted out some tough rebounds for us. She's very confident with her shot. She just doesn't force it. If it's there, she'll take it. She's in the gym working on it.'
'It was classic Ashley that she didn't know that she became the number two scorer in Cal history. It's just like her to just come out and take care of business. Accolades come if they come, but for us, it's all about the team. And appropriate that she scored it on a spin move. Classic.'
Senior forward Ashley Walker
'Coach told me this summer I needed to go out and work out hard. I still have a lot of things that I want to go out and get better at. I am hardly perfect right now. I'm shooting well right now, and its mainly because Coach told me I need to get in the gym and shoot. I have worked on my jump shot and worked on being able to make a three so that people would have to come out and guard me and couldn't just sit down and double Dev.'
'It's a great honor. Something that everyone would want to work hard for and do. I'm very excited about it'
