Swimming Falls to Huskies

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Kate Hagan moved into eighth on the Oregon State all-times list in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:17.85, but the Oregon State swim team fell to Pacific-10 Conference rival Washington by a score of 135-119.
'Washington's freestylers were really strong,' head coach Larry Liebowitz said. 'Overall though, our team preformed really well and they fought really hard during the afternoon.'
Haruguchi had two first place finishes on the afternoon, one in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.36, and in the 200 backstroke, 2:00.88. Haruguchi also finished in second during the 100 backstroke.
Kayla Rawlings continued to overpower the competition in the 200 butterfly with her eighth victory of the season in the event. Rawlings finished the event with a time of 2:01.94. During the 200 freestyle, Rawlings set a new season best with a time of 1:55.09. She finished the afternoon with a fourth place finish in the 500 freestyle in 5:03.59.
Karri-Ann Benthin swam a new personal record during the 1,000 freestyle, completing the race in 11:21.35, beating her previous time by over a second.
Oregon State jumps back into the pool again Saturday, Jan. 24, when the Beavers host their final home meet of the season against Washington State beginning at 11 a.m. at Osborne Aquatic Center.
