Around the league... ARIZONA junior F Chase Budinger bounced back from a recent shooting slump by shooting a combined 15-of-28 (.536) to average 22.0 points in victories over the Oregon schools. In the four games prior to the Oregon/Oregon State games, he shot 12-of-50 (.240) from the field. Junior F Jordan Hill saw his streak of scoring in double digits come to an end at 23 when he tallied nine points vs. Oregon, but he's continued his streak of grabbing double digit rebounds to six games (averaging 12.3 rpg during those six games)... ARIZONA STATE has won 10 of its last 11 games. Junior G Derek Glasser posted his first career double-double with 15 points/11 assists in the win over Oregon State. It was the most assists by a Sun Devil in the last 153 games (Jason Braxton, 12 vs. USC on Jan. 17, 2004). Glasser is second in the league in assist/turnover ratio (+2.4). Over the last 10 games, sophomore F Rihards Kuksiks is averaging 12.9 points and 4.8 rebounds, including 33-of-58 (.569) from three-point range... At 15-2, CALIFORNIA is off to its best start since 1960 when Pete Newell lead the Bears to a 28-2 season and the national championship game. Junior G Patrick Christopher has scored 20 or more points in each of the last four games, averaging 23.0 points during that stretch and shooting 12-of-24 (.500) from beyond the arc. The triple overtime win at Washington was the longest game for the Bears since a five-overtime win against Oregon on Feb. 10, 1977... OREGON looks to snap a four-game Conference skid. The Ducks have not dropped their first five league games since starting Pac-10 play 0-11 during the 1992-93 season. Coach Ernie Kent is spreading the minutes as 11 players are averaging better than eight minutes per game, with nine players seeing at least 13.3 minutes per game. At 31.1 minutes per game, only junior G Tajuan Porter is seeing more than 30 minutes of action per game... OREGON STATE sophomore G Lathen Wallace stepped up during the recent road trip to Arizona. He shot 13-of-25 (.520) from the field and averaged 15.0 points in two games. He was the only Beaver in double figures in last week's games and scored 35 percent of the team's point total... STANFORD senior F Lawrence Hill has posted double digits in the scoring column in each of the last six games. He's averaging 14.5 points and shooting 37-of-71 (.521) from the field during that span. Coach Johnny Dawkins used the same starting lineup (Hill, Fields, Owens, Johnson and Goods) for the first 13 games of the season, until inserting sophomore F Will Paul into the lineup at Washington State last Saturday. In the previous three games, Paul had come off the bench to average 6.7 points and shoot 9-of-11 (.818) from the field. The Cardinal dropped a pair of one-point games on the Washington road trip. They have lost back-to-back games by one point five times in school history before this past weekend. The last coming Feb. 8 and Feb. 14, 1975 at Washington (68-69) and vs. Washington (68-69)... UCLA has won 11 of its last 12 road games in Pac-10 play. UCLA senior G Darren Collison needs seven assists to reach 500 career assists. In the game at USC, Collison saw his school-record consecutive free throw streak come to an end at 43. He leads the Pac-10 in free throw percentage (.939). He's shooting 282-of-333 (.847) for his career from the charity strip. Junior F Nikola Dragovic earned his first career start and responded with 14 points, hit 3-of-9 from three-point range and grabbed four rebounds at USC... USC freshman F DeMar DeRozan has scored in double digits in each of the last 10 games. During that stretch, he's shooting 58-of-106 (.547) and averaging 13.5 points. Over the last six games, USC's defense is allowing just 59.7 points per game, while the opposition is shooting 135-of-341 (.396)... WASHINGTON senior F Jon Brockman matched his career-high in rebounds twice last week, grabbing 18 rebounds each vs. California and Stanford. His career total of 1,044 rebounds leaves him just eight rebounds shy of becoming Washington's career leader. He's currently ninth on the Pac-10's all-time list and will move up to eighth once he passes former Husky Doug Smart (1,051 rebounds from 1957-59)... WASHINGTON STATE senior guard Taylor Rochestie is shooting 20-of-40 from the field and averaging 17.3 points in three Pac-10 games. Freshman G Klay Thompson is averaging 11.3 points per game. Only five other players in WSU history averaged double digit scoring during their freshman season.
