Swimming and Diving In Fifth at Dallas Morning News

The Arizona State men's swimming and diving team began competition today at the Dallas Morning News Classic. The team is currently in fifth with 111 points.
Senior All-American diver Micky Benedetti easily won the 1-meter. The tri-Pac-10 Champ scored over 70 points above the second place finisher, compiling 387.40. Sean Boyle clocked in a time of 1:38.27 to place third in the 'A' Championship final of the 200 free. His fellow senior, Vinicius Waked hit the wall at 1:38.05 but ended up placing ninth due to the fact he was in the 'B' Consolation Final. Boyle earned a time of 48.51 in the 100 fly to place fourth.
Yesterday the team competed in a dual against SMU. The Sun Devils fell 136-94 in the effort. Freshman Yutaro Yamashita earned a lifetime best in the 1,000 free with a time of 9.29.03 to place second. Yamashita went on to win the 500 free, clocking in at 4:39.55.
Benedetti, in his first appearance of 2009, swept the diving events. He earned 408.98 in the 3-meter and 366.52 in the 1-meter.
The Dallas Morning News Classic concludes tomorrow.
