Swimming Signs Rachel O'Brien to National Letter of Intent

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State head coach Larry Liebowitz announced that Rachel O'Brien has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Beavers in the 2009-10 season.

'Rachel is an Olympic Trial Qualifier and will be a huge addition to our team,' Liebowitz said.

O'Brien, who hails from College Park High School in California, also swims for the Terrapins Swim Team and won the NCS at her school championship her junior year in the 100 butterfly. She was also named the MVP three consecutive years at College Park High School. O'Brien also competes in the 200 butterfly, as well as the 200 freestyle.

'I loved Larry and Mary Anne and I really liked the girls,' O'Brien said. 'Also the campus was pretty and I really like Oregon too.'

Follow Oregon State as they take the pool again Friday, Dec. 19, when the Beavers take on Florida Atlantic and Northern Arizona in Boca Raton, Fla.
