What is Pink-Zone?
Pink Zone is an event dedicated to raise awareness about breast cancer at an Arizona Women's Basketball game. Started in 2007, more than 120 schools united in this effort and helped make the inaugural year a success. In 2008, more than 1,200 teams and organizations participated, reaching over 830,000 fans and raising over $930,000 for breast cancer awareness and research. Arizona women's basketball has made a commitment to spread awareness about this disease, which affects thousands of women every year. They are inviting the Tucson Community and the University of Arizona to attend an Arizona women's basketball game at a reduced admission price.
When is the Pink-zone game? Saturday, February 7th, 2009. The action starts at 12:00 pm when Arizona takes on Pac-10 rival Oregon.
What do I need to do?
All we ask is that you wear pink to the game and receive $1 off admission. All breast cancer survivors receive $1 admission!
Do other schools have Pink Zone games? The WBCA, a governing body of intercollegiate women's basketball, inaugurated a 'Pink Zone', formerly known as 'Think Pink', Breast Cancer Awareness Week which takes place February 13-22, 2009. The WBCA requested that all schools select one home game during this week to promote the initiative. For more information, please visit the WBCA site at http://www.wbca.org/pinkzone.asp
