Myles Bradley Sets School Record In 60-Meter Hurdles

    Albuquerque, N.M. - The Stanford track and field team continued their young season from the New Mexico Cherry and Silver Invitational on Saturday with some outstanding results. Myles Bradley led the way for Stanford with a school-record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.71 seconds.

    Bradley won the event and broke his own school record, which was previously 7.78 seconds. His time of 7.71 was a NCAA provisional standard that fell just short of the automatic standard of 7.68.

    J.J. Jackson also competed in the hurdles and finished with a career-best time of 8.07 seconds to finish second overall.

    The other event win for the Stanford men came in the 4x400-meter relay. The team of Spencer Castro, Zach Chandy, Durell Coleman and Amaechi Morton finished first with a time of 3:14.04.

    The freshman Morton also doubled back in the open 400 meters to finish fourth with a time of 47.86 seconds.

    In the weight throw, Kyle Davis-Hammerquist finished sixth with a toss of 55-2. Also competing were Carter Wells who finished eighth (53-8 ¼) and Cody Cox who finished 12th (49-1).

    The women were led by a third place finish in the shot put by Michaela Wallerstedt. Wallerstedt finished with a toss of 47-10 ½.

    In the 60 meters, Shataya Hendricks returned after missing most of 2008 with an injury and finished fourth with a time of 7.56 seconds. Hendricks also competed in the 200 meters where she finished with a time of 26.42.

    In the 4x400-meter relay the team of Idara Otu, Ashley Menzies, Joy O'Hare and Hendricks finished second with a time of 3:45.69.

    Competing in the invitational pole vault were Caitlin Hewitt and Natasha Barthel. Hewitt finished sixth with a mar of 11-11 ¾, while Bartel finished seventh with a mark of 11-5 ¾.

    The Stanford track and field teams will be back in action next weekend when the travel to Seattle, Wash. to compete in the UW Invitational. The meet will begin Friday, Jan 30 and continue until Saturday, Jan. 31.
