Elston Turner Jr. says being the son of an NBA coach has its perks. He has received tips from his father, former Kings and current Houston Rockets assistant Elston Turner, free tickets to games, and plenty of chances to see some of the league's best players perform live.

Turner Jr. also knows about one of the negatives - moving from Roseville to Houston when his father got the Rockets job.

As a result, the younger Turner played his senior season of prep basketball at Elkins High School in Missouri City, Texas, after playing three stellar years at Roseville High School from 2004 to 2007, earning All-Metro second-team as a junior.

The Bee recently caught up with Turner Jr., who is now a promising freshman guard at Washington. Averaging about 16 minutes and 4.2 points per game, he is adjusting to college life while trying to make an impact for the Huskies.
