CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State men's basketball team swept the Bay Area schools for the first time since the 1992-93 season and the rest of the country noticed as the Beavers were named ESPN.com's 'Team of the Week' in Andy Katz's `Weekly Watch' column.
The column, linked here, notes the historical significance of Oregon State's two wins on the road and how the Beavers were able to pull off the feat.
Roeland Schaftenaar is also mentioned in the column for his performance this past week as the forward makes it on to Katz's 'starting five.'
Schaftenaar scored 22 points in the Beavers' win at Cal, making all four 3s he attempted. He scored 18 in the win at Stanford, converting eight of 11 shots.
Blake Griffin of Oklahoma was named national player of the week.
Oregon State returns to action on Monday, Jan. 26, when the Beavers step out of conference play to face Cal State Bakersfield at 7:00 p.m.
