STANFORD, Calif. - Junior Kelley O'Hara and sophomore Christen Press were named to the U-23 U.S. Women's National Team roster that will travel to La Manga, Spain for a three-team tournament from Jan. 31 - Feb. 7. Also, freshman Camille Levin was selected as one of the players that will attend a U20/U18 Super camp in Chula Vista, Calif. from from Jan. 25-Feb. 1.
The U-23s will face Norway on Feb. 4 and England on Feb. 6. These will be the first international matches of the year for the U.S. U-23s, which piled up an 11-1-2 overall record in 2008, including a mark of 8-1-1 in international games.
The combination of the U-20s and U-18s into two training camps will give the coaches a chance to evaluate a large number of players in each age group as the teams begin their runs to what will hopefully culminate in the 2010 U-20 Women's World Cup in Germany and the 2010 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Trinidad & Tobago.
O'Hara and Press combined for 29 goals and 23 assists in the Cardinal's record-breaking season on offense. Levin, who began the season at defense and was then moved into the midfield, contributed six goals and four assists.
