SEATTLE -- The couple hundred fans gathered at Niketown on Thursday bore a look rarely seen in Pacific Northwest sports.
Some wore University of Washington shirts, standing alongside others donning Portland Trail Blazers jerseys -- representatives of rival cities in rival states. Even a couple Washington State shirts peppered the crowd, and at least one fan wore a UW headband with his Blazers jersey.
They were opposing fan bases gathered for a single purpose -- one unveiled when Brandon Roy stepped into view to a boy-band cheer.
The former Washington All-American and current Trail Blazers All-Star had returned home to see his Huskies jersey retired.
