OSU: How excited were you when you got to send in your letter of Intent? What was that experience like for you?
Andrew Susac: 'Since I committed early it seemed like the official signing would never come so I was very happy to make it official.'
OSU: What attracted you most to Oregon State?
Susac: 'They are the two-time defending national champions, the Pac-10, Coach Casey, Coach Lees, Coach Bailey, Corvallis and it's a college-town type campus'
OSU: What was the first impression you had of the Oregon State coaching staff? And how has that impression changed after the recruiting process?
Susac: 'My Father, Uncle and I went on many recruitment trips and there was always something that did not feel right and when we went to Oregon State I knew I was going to be a Beaver within 15 minutes of talking with Coach Casey, Coach Bailey and Coach Lees. Coach Casey was selling something that other Coaches did not. He offered to make me a better man, friend and husband along with a better baseball player. I knew it was the best place for me and I felt they could make me better and it wasn't just about baseball. Coach Casey's speech fired me up. I really want to be part of the Beaver family and I wanted to sign that day. My first impressions have not changed a bit; every time I visit I like it more and more.'
OSU: How are excited are you to play for a two-time national champion and in the best baseball conference in the country?
Susac: 'I am extremely excited to attend Oregon State and play in front of 4,000 screaming Beaver fans at every home game. I am very excited about playing in the Pac-10 and my goal is to go to Omaha and win three national championships while I am there.'
OSU: What is your earliest memory of Oregon State?
Susac: 'Joey Wong's double play (against Cal State Fullerton in 2007).'
OSU: I assume you were able to watch the College World Series in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Do you remember what you were thinking as you watched those years and saw the Beavers take two national titles?
Susac: 'These guys play the game right. They must be doing something right up there.'
OSU: What are some of the things you enjoy doing away from the baseball field?
Susac: 'Playing whiffle ball, ping pong, hanging out with my friends and jet skiing at the lake.'
OSU: What is something that most people don't know about you?
Susac: 'My grandparents live in Reedsport, Ore. I am Croatian.'
OSU: If someone asked a friend to describe you, what do you think they would say?
Susac: 'Outgoing. Energetic. Athletic.'
OSU: Do you know what you want to study in school? Playing MLB is probably your future goal, but what else would you want to do once you are done with college? What are your off the field aspirations?
Susac: 'Sports management, business, and marketing, being a good family man.'
