Arizona State's Simon Named U.S. Bank Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--ARIZONA STATE junior guard Dymond Simon was named the U.S. Bank Pac-10 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 26-Feb. 1, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Simon, a local Phoenix area product, connected on 60 percent from the field over the weekend as she led the Sun Devils to wins over Washington State and Washington on the road. The guard averaged 15.5 points and 4.5 assists en route to Arizona State’s sixth and seventh straight wins in Conference play.
Against Washington State, Simon scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half of the contest, propelling the Sun Devils to a 19-point victory over the Cougars, winning 66-47. In the game against Washington, Simon dished out six assists, tying her career high for the third time in the last six games. ASU went on to beat Washington 80-64.
Simon has led Arizona State in scoring in each of the Sun Devils’ last five contests, averaging 17.2 points on 53 percent shooting.
Next up, Arizona State hosts Oregon on Thurs., Feb. 5 at 5:30 p.m. PT and Oregon State on Sat., Feb. 7 at 3 p.m. PT.
This is the second career Pac-10 Player of the Week honor for Simon and 33rd all-time for Arizona State.
