USC Football Coaches Clinic Set For March 27-28
Feb. 2, 2009
The sixth annual USC Football/Nike Coach of the Year Southern California Coaches Clinic, offering expertise for football coaches on all levels, will be held March 27 and 28 at USC's Galen Center (3400 So. Figueroa St.).
The clinic kicks off at 3 p.m. on March 27 with talks by USC strength and conditioning coach Chris Carlisle and new USC special teams coordinator Brian Schneider (formerly of the Oakland Raiders). Following dinner, USC head coach Pete Carroll will give an introductory talk, followed by roundtables, film review and breakout sessions with the USC offensive and defensive coaches, including new hires Jeremy Bates from the Denver Broncos and Jethro Franklin from the Houston Texans. A coaches social hour concludes the day. Registration begins at 2 p.m. at the Galen Center.
On March 28, lectures by prominent high school coaches will begin at 8 a.m., then clinic participants will attend USC's first spring football practice of 2009 on Howard Jones Field. Following lunch catered by 'Out Of This World BBQ,' the afternoon will feature speeches by head coaches Bob Stoops of Oklahoma, Bo Pelini of Nebraska, Chris Ault of Nevada and Paul Wulff of Washington State. Registration that day begins at 7:15 a.m. at the Galen Center.
Cost of the clinic is $145 for both days or $110 for one day (walk-up registration is an additional $10). Included in the cost is a meal on both days. The clinic sold out the past five years, so attendees are encouraged to sign up soon.
A special room rate ($99 single, $109 double) is available at the Radisson Hotel Midtown Los Angeles, across the street from the USC campus. Ask for the 'Win Forever' room block.
