Drouin, McGrath Named Arizona State Athletes of the Week
Feb. 4, 2009
Chris Drouin (Wrestling) and Addison McGrath (Water Polo) have been named ASU's Athletes of the Week for the week ending Feb. 8. Both were instrumental in leading their respective teams to victory over the weekend.
Drouin won his ninth dual of the season to help ASU defeat Cal Poly, 36-10. Drouin's win, a major decision, gave him eight bonus-point victories in duals this year, including two by fall, one by technical fall (15+ point margin of victory) and five by major decision (8-14 point margin of victory). His only loss in duals this year game in a one-point decision to the No. 2 wrestler in the nation.
McGrath scored eight goals in three games to lead the ASU water polo team to a 3-0 record over the weekend. She scored two goals each in the team's victories over No. 15 CS Bakersfield and No. 13 CS Northridge on Saturday at the Cal Baptist Mini-Tournament, and then she had four goals in a 16-6 win over No. 12 Hartwick on Sunday at the UC Irvine Mini-Tournament. The Sun Devils improved to 6-0 on the season, making it the best start in the program's eight-year history. McGrath has scored 21 goals and added nine assists in just six games.
