Women's Track Heads To NYC For New Balance Collegiate Invite
Feb. 4, 2009
The women's track and field team will head East to New York this weekend as they compete in the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in The Armory. The meet features a plethora of schools from across the country and will be a big test for the young Bruin team.
The women are coming off of an impressive performance at the Bronco Invitational last weekend in Idaho where they posted six event wins. Krishna Curry leads the way as she is just .66 seconds shy of an NCAA qualifier in the 800m.
Opening up this weekend in the long jump will be 2007 NCAA Indoor Champion Rhonda Watkins. Watkins did not compete during the indoor season last year and will be in the hunt for an NCAA title in 2009.
The Bruins will also field several relays in the 4x400m and distance medley.
Sophomore Tori Anthony will head to Lincoln, NE (along with the men's squad) to compete in the pole vault at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational.
