Main Completes Third Round at Buick Invitational
Feb. 7, 2009
UCLA freshman Gregor Main, who survived the 36-hole cut yesterday, was tied for 36th place after three rounds at the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines following Saturday's round.
Main, 19, posted an even par score of 72 on the beastly South Course for a 54-hole total of 217 (+1). In the third round, Main had 31 putts, three birdies and three bogeys. He also improved his standing by 14 spots in the third round.
On Friday, Main made the cut, thanks to a key eagle three on the par 5 14th hole. That score dropped him from five-over par to three-over, and he finished with a score of 75 (+3) on the South Course.
Former Bruins Scott McCarron, Tom Pernice Jr. and Parker McLachlin also made the cut.
John Rollins was the overall leader in the clubhouse at 12-under par 204.
