Trojans Compete At Two Indoor Meets This Weekend

The USC track and field team had several athletes competing this weekend at the New Mexico Classic in Albuquerque, N.M. and at the New Balacne Collegiate Invitational in New York City.
At the New Mexico Classic, hurdlers sophomores Oscar Spurlock (7.90) and Brendan Ames (8.09) finished 1-2 in the prelims of the 60m hurdles, but both clipped hurdles in the finals. Ames finished third with a time of 8.15 and Spurlock fourth with a time of 8.64.
Senior Majula Wijesekara tied for the best high jump of 6-11 1/2 (2.12m), but placed second due to misses. He did, however, win the triple jump with a mark of 47-8 (14.53m). Teammate Aven Wright, a redshirt junior, finished second in the triple jump at a distance of 47-3 1/2 (14.41m).
In New York, freshman Dalilah Muhammad took fourth in the women's 500m race with a time of 1:13.67.
Junior Shalina Clarke placed third in the 60m hurdles consolation with a time of 8.34. She finished tied for ninth in the prelims with the top eight advancing to the championship finals.
Freshman Erica Anderson placed third in her 400m heat with a time of 56.28, but did not advance to the finals.
The women's 4x400m relay team took eighth with a time of 3:44.49.
Also, USC's just announced recruit Lauren Chambers won the girl's weight throw with a mark of 61-7 1/2, more than eight and a half feet farther than the second-place finisher.
