Men's Track & Field Heading To Flagstaff For NAU Classic

The men's track and field team will travel to Flagstaff, AZ this Saturday to compete in the Northern Arizona Classic as the indoor season continues. The men returned to the top-25 polls this week at the No. 23 spot and will look to pick up more NCAA qualifiers this weekend.

As of last weekend, the Bruins have qualified eight individuals and the distance medley relay team for the NCAA Indoor Championships, which are held March 13-14 in College Station, TX. Several of those who have qualified, also rank amongst the top-10 in their respective event groups. Below is a list of those with top marks

  • Kevin Craddock - 60m Hurdles, 7.79 (No. 8)
  • Distance Medley Relay (Patterson, Wells, Primm, Barnes) - 9:37.95 (5th)
  • Johnny Quinn - Pole Vault, 17-8/5.36m (No. 5)
  • Boldizsar Kocsor - Weight Throw, 70-10.75/21.61m (No. 4)

    Other athletes who have qualified for NCAAs include Cory Primm (800m, 1:50.17, No. 17); Marlon Patterson (Mile, 4:03.07, No. 20); Dustin DeLeo (Pole Vault, 17-1/5.21m, No. 11T); Bo Taylor (Shot Put, 59-9.50/18.22m, No. 12); Nick Robinson (Shot Put, 59-4.75/18.10m, No. 16).

    The Bruins will have all event groups represented and will also run a 4x400m relay team. Women's team members Katy Viuf and Tori Pena will also compete in the pole vault at the NAU Classic, while the rest of the women's team rests up for MPSF.

    While the majority of the team will be in Flagstaff, the Shackleton twins, Drew and Kyle, will travel to Seattle to compete at the Husky Classic. The Shackletons will compete in the 5000m race.
