USC Tennis Teams Dig In At ITA National Indoors

The undefeated USC women's and men's tennis teams both have big weekend's ahead with trips to the ITA National Indoor Championships. Both teams qualified for the competitive out-of-state action with wins during qualifying play two weeks ago. Tomorrow, the No. 9-ranked USC women (4-0) open competition against No. 6 Georgia in the first round of play out in Madison, Wisc. The No. 6 USC men (6-0), meanwhile, take up competition in Chicago, Ill., opening up against No. 9 Mississippi.

MEN'S ITA RANKING UPDATES: The latest ITA national team rankings - release Feb. 11 - have the USC men still ranked No. 6. The latest individual rankings are the ITA preseason picks released Jan. 6. There, #7 Robert Farah leads the Trojans, with three other teammates well settled in the nation's top-100. Freshman Matt Kecki is #54, followed by #58 freshman Steve Johnson and #64 senior Abdullah Magdas. In doubles, Farah/Johnson rank #2 ahead of Kells/Nguyen at #46.

WOMEN'S ITA RANKING UPDATES: The latest ITA national team rankings - released Feb. 11 -- have USC up a notch to rank No. 9. The latest individual rankings are the ITA preseason picks released Jan. 6. There, #16 Amanda Fink leads the Trojans, with four other teammates well settled in the nation's top-100. Sophomore Maria Sanchez is #22, followed by #36 freshman Alison Ramos, #38 junior Sarah Fansler and #67 junior Gabriela Niculescu. In doubles, Niculescu/Sanchez rank #24 ahead of Fink/Niculescu at #31 and Ramos/Sanchez at #53.
