Cal came out and pounced on the Yellow Jackets by claiming wins on all three doubles courts. No. 7-ranked duo sophomore Marina Cossou and senior Claire Ilcinkas took an impressive 8-6 win on the top court over No. 5 Irina Falconi and Amanda McDowell to seal the point for the Bears.

The Bears carried their doubles momentum into singles play as they took a 2-0 match lead with a win on court four when No. 30-ranked Ilcinkas posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over No. 57 Noelle Hickey. No. 52-ranked freshman Jana Juricova continued to pad her resume as she claimed her 22nd victory this season and her 10th in a row, by defeating 23rd-ranked Falconi 6-3, 7-5 on court two to put Cal up 3-0 in the match.

The Jackets fought back to gain some ground on the Bears as Viet Ha Ngo gave senior Marion Ravelojaona just her third singles loss of the year by coming away with a 7-5, 6-0 victory on court six. Georgia Tech made things interesting when No. 11 McDowell defeated No. 13 Cossou on the top court in a stunning 6-0, 6-3 win, putting the Jackets within one point at 3-2.

The one-point deficit was as close as Georgia Tech would get however as sophomore Mari Andersson put things away for the Bears with a 6-3, 7-5 win on court three over No. 27-ranked Christy Striplin. No. 15-ranked senior Bojana Bobusic was the last to get off court but did so with a victory over Sasha Krupina, 6-0, 5-7, 1-0; taking the tiebreaker by a 10-5 score. Bobusic has now won eight consecutive singles matches and 19 on the year.
