Thacher, Wire Named To 2009 ITA All-Tournament Team

STANFORD, Calif. - Freshman Ryan Thacher and junior Richard Wire were named to the 2009 ITA All-Tournament Team following the conclusion of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. Thacher was recognized as the best player at the No. 4 singles position, while Wire was selected at No. 5.
Both athletes won all three of their respective singles matches during the Cardinal's three dual meets of the tournament. Notable victories include Thacher's upset of Florida's No. 63 Joseph Burkhardt 6-2, 6-2, while No. 62 Wire defeated Texas' No. 81 Olivier Sajous, 6-1, 6-2.
Stanford advanced to the semifinals of the tournament, upsetting No. 7 Florida and No. 2 Texas by the score of 4-3 in both matches along the way. No. 3 Georgia spoiled the Cardinal's bid for the title, handing it a 4-2 loss in the semifinals.
Virginia sophomore, Sanam Singh was voted the Most Outstanding Player of the championships. Singh helped the Cavaliers capture their second consecutive ITA National Men's Team Indoor title by posting a 3-0 record at No. 2 singles. He is joined on the All-Tournament Team by the following players and doubles teams:
