CORVALLIS, Ore. - A meeting with the U-23 United States Women's National Team highlights the 2009 Oregon State women's soccer spring schedule, released by head coach Linus Rhode on Tuesday. The Beavers will host the U-23 national squad on Tuesday, April 14, at 7:00 p.m. and fans can attend free of charge.
'Our spring schedule is going to be challenging and should be a great chance to develop as a team against some of the best competition in the country,' Rhode said. 'Hosting the national team is a terrific opportunity and I know the team is extremely excited to have the chance to play against the best players in the country. It's a great honor to have them come to Corvallis. It should be a tremendous learning experience and a great chance for fans to see some of the best young players in the world.'
In addition to the contest with the national team, Oregon State will play in four other matches, including a meeting with the Seattle Sounders of the USL W-League on Sunday, April 26, at 3:00 p.m. in Tacoma, Wash.
The Beavers open the spring season when Oregon State travels to Portland, Ore., to face Portland, a team which advanced to the Elite Eight of the 2008 Women's Soccer Championship, on Saturday, April 4, at 2:30 p.m.
The meeting with the U-23 United States Women's National Team, the only home contest on the schedule, follows before a road trip to Seattle, Wash., to face Seattle Pacific on April 25th (5:00 p.m.) before closing out the road swing with the meeting against the Sounders.
The Beavers will then conclude the spring slate on Saturday, May 2, when they travel to Eugene, Ore., to face in-state rival Oregon at 1:00 p.m.
