Bruins Finish Fifth at North Ranch

The No. 19 UCLA men's golf team placed fifth Tuesday at the USC Collegiate Invitational, hosted at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif.
The Bruins posted a round of four-over par 288 in the final round for a 54-hole total of 867 (+15). Stanford won the tournament with a score of 839 (-13), followed by BYU at 849 (-3). California was third at 858 (+6) and USC was fourth at 859 (+7).
Individually for the Bruins, freshman Gregor Main posted a final round 68 (-3) and placed third at 206 (-7). Sophomore Philip Francis tied for 10th at 213 (E) after carding a score of 73 (+2) on Tuesday. Senior Erik Flores tied for 38th at nine-over par 222 after posting a 71 (E) and freshman Alex Shi Yup Kim tied for 60th following a score of 76 (+5). Senior James Lee, playing for the first time in eight months, tied for 67th at 231 (+18) after posting a final round score of 77 (+6).
UCLA's two individuals may have earned spots on the travel squad for the next event. Freshman Beau Schoolcraft tied for 39th at 223 (+10) after carding a score of 75 (+4) in the final round, and sophomore Connor Driscoll tied for 51st at 226 (+13) following a score of 76 (+5).
Stanford's Steve Ziegler shot a final round 65 (-6) to win with a 54-hole score of 204 (-9).
