Cal Baseball Powers Past Santa Clara, 12-2

SANTA CLARA, CALIF. - Highlighted by a phenomenal pitching performance by freshman right-hander Matt Flemer in his first collegiate outing, the Cal baseball team (3-2) dominated Santa Clara, 12-2, in its first road game of the 2009 season, Wednesday, Feb. 25 at Stephen Schott Stadium.
Flemer was superb, throwing 6.2 innings with four hits, two runs, no walks and 13 strikeouts. The Golden Bears also were impressive offensively, pounding out 13 hits against eight different Bronco pitchers, including sophomore shortstop Brian Guinn going a career-high 4-for-4 with a double and three RBI, and freshman Danny Oh, who was 4-for-5 with four RBI.
