Cougar Relays Kickoff Conference Championship

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - The WSU 200 medley relay team finished fifth at the opening day of the Pacific-10 Conference Championship Wednesday putting the Cougars' team points at 50.

The team consisting of seniors Afton Pickett and Elyse Peterson, junior Michaela Ahlin and sophomore Rugile Mileisyte finished the relay with a time of 1:40.22, a little less than four seconds behind first-place Arizona (1:36.53) and defeating teams from Oregon State (1:41.23) and UCLA (1:42.09).

The Cougars with 50 points are currently sitting in eighth-place ahead of Arizona State (44).

Racing continues Thursday with preliminaries for the 500 freestyle, 200 IM and 50 free beginning at 11 a.m. Finals will begin at 6 p.m. and will also include the 200 free relay.
